04/11/08 - The birds are chirping, the bees are buzzing and all of you are sitting in your dorm rooms studying away. Somehow, this just doesn't seem right. But then again, neither do some of the fashion choices that I have seen around campus these past few days. So, I have decided to take it upon myself to help everyone out and give you some spring 2008 tips.
With the warm weather approaching, it seems only natural that flip-flops have been making their first appearances of the season. This is fine if you like having your toes freeze off in the morning.
I also have a problem with though the socks-and-sandals bit that a lot of you like to think is ok to wear. And guys, this isn't just for the girls; you are probably at fault the most for this fashion crime.
So, if you haven't already guessed, socks and sandals is a major DON'T for the spring (or anytime of the year for that matter).
Believe it or not, there are other options out there for all of you, and if your feet are cold enough for you to be wearing socks with your sandals, you shouldn't have even worn the sandals to begin with.
White sneakers for guys are a classic style for the spring, and, hey, you still get to wear those socks! But, if you feel like being a little ambitious, try a pair of topsiders. You can get them at all different price ranges and in a pretty decent range of colors, including navy, brown and white. J Crew, Nordstrom and even Urban Outfitters carry topsiders, so go check them out!
But ladies, I hate to break it to you: you aren't off the hook just yet. It's time to retire those puffy winter jackets and pack up those scarves that I still see people wearing. With the air getting warmer and the sun shining brighter, I have a feeling you won't be needing those winter essentials any longer.
So what are your options? Try a cute trench coat in a neutral color that you know will match everything, or be a super fashionista and try a trench in one of spring's hottest colors like yellow, pink or aqua.
