03/06/08 - To The Cigar,

A note on the state budget cuts. Why aren't we, as educated, socially conscious people, more outraged at the cuts to higher education?

Those of us who hail from in-state need to make a show of dissent, because frankly, I am confused as to how we got into this mess in the first place. It can't be that our government doesn't value higher education. I just don't believe that. I believe that education is a priority, but why isn't it prioritized? I need clarification.

I am meeting with Gov. Donald Carcieri sometime before graduation (his office calls you the week of your appointment) so I can get a more solid answer to my questions. As a student potentially representing the school, I would like to know, what would you ask Carcieri? E-mail me at cosmopolitan_withlime@yahoo.com.
