02/28/08 - The Academy Awards is one of the biggest celebrity events of the year, and not just for that little gold statue either. Celebrities get to show off their hot bodies, baby bumps and significant others, all while wearing some of the most expensive garb that the red carpet has to offer.

This year, the award show celebrated its 80th anniversary and to be quite honest, many of our favorite celebs didn't do the Oscars any justice wardrobe-wise.

While George Clooney looked flawless (as usual) his date and possible girlfriend, Sarah Larson, didn't really look glam enough to actually be with him on the red carpet. Her floor length, strapless gown was a pastel blue embellished with pink and yellow flowers. To be honest, she looked kind of like an Easter basket. Not exactly what Clooney should be carrying on his arm down the red carpet.

And how about Diablo Cody (the writer of "Juno") and her leopard print chiffon dress? What was she thinking? Sure she's a little spunky, but I am sure that John Galliano for Christian Dior, could have come up with something a tad more flattering for her. Welcome to the jungle that we call the red carpet, Diablo!

Cameron Diaz was also a disappointment this red carpet walk. She tends to keep it fairly simple when she dresses up, but this time she kept it to a bare minimum. The pale pink, origami inspired gown, designed by Galliano for Dior was pretty, but could have used a total pressing session. The skirt was completely rumpled and the train was a little bunchy.

Unfortunately, Miley Cyrus didn't look all that stunning either. The "Hannah Montana" star was clad in a bright red Valentino empire waist gown, which was appropriate for the young star, but not quite glamorous enough for the Oscars. At 15 years old, Miley should be presenting at the Kids Choice Awards, not the Oscars.

But not everyone was a fashion disaster that night. Jennifer Garner looked fab in a black Oscar de la Renta gown, which showed off her thin, but healthy body (post baby Violet of course). The rouge drop-waist bodice was completely timeless and her art deco-inspired necklace made Garner shine even more. Great job Jenny, or should we say Rachel Zoe (Garner's stylist).
