Robert Stewart
Hello, my name is Robert Stewart and I am running for on-campus representative for Student Senate. I was involved in student government in high school and would like to continue here at URI. At the moment I am a member of Phi Gamma Delta and hold the position of philanthropy chair. I would love to serve the student body here at URI, and I would really appreciate your vote.
Vidhi Shah
Hi, my name is Vidhi Shah and I am a sophomore here. I am running for an on-campus representative seat. I have been on senate since the fall semester of my freshman year and would really appreciate your vote! Thanks!
Chris Tremaglio
"Elect a student like you." That is what your vote means today. As a junior at URI, I'm running to be your on-campus representative. I believe it's in your best interest to know your representative has you in mind. I embody students who might not have the time or understanding about senate affairs but want a voice. If you are concerned with the quality of your time at URI and being heard, then vote Chris Tremaglio today.
Megan Luther
Hey, I'm Megan Luther and I'm a junior pharmacy major. I've been a member of senate for a year and am running for an on-campus representative position again. I was elected last spring to an on-campus seat, and am the vice chairwoman of the Student Organization Advisory and Review Committee (SOARC). I hope you vote for me!
Adam Yavner, Michelle T. Rosa, Angelyca K. Abbe and Spencer Ginsberg did not submit platforms.
Off-Campus Representative (12 open seats)
Jessica B. Allison, Mikaela Condon, Chris Katsimagles, Shelby Sullivan-Bennis and Ryan Heffel did not submit platforms.
President & Vice-President of the Student Body (1 ticket may be elected)
Thomas Ahrens & Dave Bedard
My name is Thomas Ahrens and I am running for Student Senate president with vice presidential candidate Dave Bedard. We have a combined five years of experience on Student Senate and are ready to bring many new positive changes to our university.
I am a Narragansett-URI Coalition voting member, actively making sure the best interests of students are voiced. Last semester, students supported current President Neil Leston and I as we spoke to the Narragansett Town Council, expressing our extreme concern for the "sticker policy." We will aggressively approach the Town Council until amendments are made.
Dave is a brother of ZBT and will make sure the Greek voice is not lost. Each year, Greek life coordinates community service, leads campus activities and rallies behind school spirit. We will make sure the proper communication is present to allow both groups to continually grow to the greatest potential.
Dave and I have met with Athletics to insure the bond between students and athletes will be present for many years to come. We are working on a student tailgating area, where students can rally together for Rhody. We have attended a Student Alumni Association meeting, and plan on working closely with them to continue improving Homecoming.
We will be working for the students as elected representatives. We are unbiased and encourage students to participate, question, and help the senate accomplish the goals of our student body. Thank you and VOTE. If you would like to contact me, you can e-mail external.affairs@hotmail.com.
Josh Feinberg & Eric Klos
Dear fellow students, we are proudly running to represent you as student body president and vice president. We have strong backgrounds of leadership and involvement on campus.
I, Josh Feinberg, am going into my third year on senate and have served as president of Beta Theta Pi and Rhody Rides. Eric Klos, my running mate, is going into his fourth year on senate and is serving his second term as Finance Committee chairman.
With our relationships among students and administration, we are, by far, the most experienced and qualified individuals for this job. Eric and I have numerous ideas, along with a vision to make URI a stronger university. As the elected voice of the URI community, we feel it is our duty to represent the opinions of students on social issues.
One of our goals is to bring social action and responsibility back to campus. We feel that this moral obligation to those in distress is something that has, in recent years, fallen by the wayside of the senate, and this is unacceptable. Among other things, we want to address various student rights issues, such as off campus jurisdictions and the "orange sticker" policy.
In the upcoming year, we would additionally like to improve unity among student organizations, weekend programming and increase community support for athletics.
We encourage you to get in touch with us if you have any questions. We hope to lead the URI student body to a bright and successful future. Thank you for your support.
