Letter: Alumna encourages recent graduates to attend URI's Young Alumni Weekend

After nearly a year away from the University of Rhode Island, I still get a little sad that words like "BISC," "Butterfield" and "Rainville" don't mean as much to the people around me as they do to me. And I can't think of how many times I've told someone to "Have an excellent," only to realize that they don't get the significance of such a pleasantry.
But in a few weeks, from Feb. 22 to 24, Young Alumni Weekend will strive to reunite all us recent graduates from the past decade who are aching to get back to URI not only to look back at our college days, but look ahead and see what's new at our school.
Current seniors, you're also encouraged to register for and attend the festivities of the weekend which will include a "down-the-line" social and beer tasting at The Mews Tavern on Friday, ice skating and a Blue and White Ball in Newport on Saturday, the men's basketball game vs. St. Joseph's on Sunday and so much more!
Anyone interested in having a weekend full of memories both old an new, time with friends and maybe even a little networking, should register online through our Web site (http://advance.uri.edu/youngalumni), or look for our group on Facebook.com, "I'm Attending Young Alumni Weekend 2008!"
