2/5/08 - Ten years later the Spice Girls are back. Ten years later, the Spice Girls are still amazing, and 10 years later Girl Power invaded Boston.

What seemed like thousands of girls streamed into Boston on Wednesday night, all of whom were anticipating the return of the band that sold more than 55 million records worldwide, had the biggest single released by a female group, "Wannabe," and is considered to be one of the best female groups of all time.

Dozens of Baby, Ginger, Sporty, Scary and Posh imitators streamed into the TD Bank North Garden. The venue probably never experienced a higher estrogen level.

As the arena went dark and the stage lights blazed through the crowd, the concert began with a skit on the screen of five little girls becoming the female group that dominated the '90s. Words flashed across the screen: "The Spice Girls invade the world," "Girl Power," and "The Spice Girls call it quits."

Anticipation for the singers to appear was as high as the screaming voices of the audience. The crowd boomed when the five girls appeared reunited from behind the five blazing letters of spice, singing "Spice Up Your Life." You could feel the intensity of the audience as everyone sang along and "the colors of the world" flashed across the arena.

And the entertainment did not stop there. Emma, Geri, Victoria, Mel C and Mel B sang all their original hits plus their new song "Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)," accompanied by awesome lights, great backup dancers, and intricate special effects. They sang "2 Become 1" surrounded by fantasy-like white feather fans and "Say You'll Be There," incorporating their old dance moves.

The Spice Girls hit a nostalgic note in the show when Geri Halliwell popped from underneath the stage with two dancers waving British flags around her, wearing her infamous British flag dress. The rest of the girls joined her singing "Who Do You Think You Are"- Emma in her pink baby doll dress, Victoria in her posh, glittery outfit, Mel B in her leopard print dress and Mel C in her sporty workout clothes, showcasing the heyday of the band's career.
