12/07/07 - As the end of the week comes to a close, Thursday night Bon Vue madness is what lingers in the mind of many. This three-floor complex that houses all that is sin: alcohol and debauchery is where the masses flee to release some of the stress that classes have built up upon oneself.
While drinking away your problems may seem like the only way to resolve them and Thursday night is the only time that seems most appropriate to this and at Bon Vue, perhaps, but have you ever wondered how this place is on any other night.
Yes, I mean I'm asking you lovely readers who frequent the establishment to ponder about how Bon Vue is on a Monday night or maybe on a Wednesday. This might be a little difficult to do but I can say that I've done the impossible and more.
I attended Bon Vue on a Monday night and the results were quite interesting. As I drove into the parking lot, I noticed a lot of free space. Normally when I come here, there's no parking whatsoever and hiking miles away is the only answer.
With the limitless amount of space given to me, I decided to reverse into a spot next to an older Ford Escort, which was sporting a "Sexy Bitch" bumper sticker. I knew that it would be best if I didn't judge the driver until I stepped foot in the bar. With only eight other cars in the lot, I boldly walked in and to my surprise there were two things missing: the music and sweaty bodies gyrating their hips.
Slightly fazed, I continue with my mission to show people how their beloved Bon Vue really was like on any other day. I pulled up a seat at the bar with the three others that occupied it and order a Bud Lite.
The bartender, who wasn't your typical young girl, simply smiled and next gave me a look of shock. Maybe she was wondering why I was here on a Monday night as well. With our undestined fates long in the past, I leave her and head downstairs, aka the Striper Room, to find a number of older men watching a game at the bar. This is when I made my way to the infamous Greek floor ( the third floor).
It was empty. No well dressed people with their fancy dresses or button-ups. Just space and an echo of my cough was all that was present. I was very upset.
In a matter of ten minutes, I had covered the whole bar, got a drink and didn't have anything spill on me. This wasn't the Bon Vue I knew and I didn't like it. For once I placed my drink down at the bar, tipped the bartender and left sober.
Maybe it's a good thing that Thursday night is for Bon Vue. Too much of a good thing is bad and for this reason I'm glad for that. I never knew who "Sexy Bitch" was but I'm just hoping it wasn't any of the patrons at the bar or the bartender.
