11/28/07 - To the Cigar,
While I don't doubt that there are Pepsi fans at the University of Rhode Island, I do know that there are quite a large number of Coca-Cola fans on campus as well.
As one of those who prefer Coke to Pepsi, I've always been disappointed by the monopoly of Pepsi at URI.
I understand the financial benefit the university gets from this kind of deal and so I never complained officially about the situation (just grumbled to myself when I got stuck with Pepsi when I really wanted a Coke).
I write now for two reasons.
First, I want to thank the 193 Degrees Coffeehouse for offering Coke products. Being able to grab a Diet Coke before a long meeting or a class is a godsend. My almost daily carbonated, caffeinated beverage always comes from you!
The second reason I'm writing is to strongly encourage Coca-Cola to make URI an offer they can't refuse.
Next time the contract is up, drive out the Pepsi folks and make URI a Coca-Cola campus.
