URI swimming defeats Springfield

The men's and women's swimming teams both defeated Springfield Saturday afternoon.

11/16/07 - The University of Rhode Island men and women's swimming teams both defeated Springfield College last weekend.

The men's team won 176-121 and the women won 164.5-133.5.

Both the men and women's teams started off well, winning the 200-yard medley relay. The women won with a time of 1:54.05 and the men with a time of 1:39.20.

Senior Ryan Sheatsley of the men's team took the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:56.72 and the 500-yard free with his time of 4:50.33.

Junior Kelsey Foy of the women's team won the 200-yard free with a time of 2:00.7, while her male counterpart, freshman Joseph Sagginairo, won in the event with his time of 1:46.98.

The men's 400-yard freestyle relay team ended the meet. They won with a time of 3:15.71.

Both teams will face Duquesne University and Fordham University this weekend in New York.
