10/26/07 - Just when we thought that summer was going to stick around a little longer, fall decided to swoop in and grace us with its presence. Now I know some of you are year-round flip-flop wearers, but for those of us who aren't immune to the cold, it's time to put away our summer essentials for another long year and begin strutting our stuff in the latest fall fashions.

But there's a problem. Shoes. I know the feeling, trust me. For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, let me explain.

During the summer it's so easy to put an outfit together and throw a pair of flip-flops on to match. But now that it's fall, and all of our flip-flops have been retired, we suddenly go into panic mode and have no idea what to wear on our feet. Am I right?

Well ladies, I have some simple solutions that might make the dressing process a little easier as the weather changes:

Invest in a pair of dressy boots! Whether they're black, brown, patent leather or suede, you can never go wrong with a classic pair of knee-high boots. They tend to be a little pricier, but they are a staple for any woman's wardrobe and can be worn with just about anything (minus sweatpants, of course).

Ballet flats are the perfect alternative for high heels. Although a nice stiletto looks great with a pair of trousers, not everyone is cut out for wearing stilts. Instead of turning to the ever-so-popular but hideous Doc Martin's, try a cute pair of ballet flats. Everyone from Prada to Steve Madden has been showing cute, funky ballet flats this season- so don't be afraid to think outside the box! Leopard print flats spice up any outfit and classic tweed flats are great for those days when you're feeling studious. If you're looking for something that can go with just about anything, black leather flats are always a safe bet.

UGG Boots. I think this one explains itself. For those of you who live under a rock, though, these boots have been the hottest winter accessory since mittens and scarves were invented. Coming all the way from the Down Under, these Aussie-made boots are fur lined and come in a wide array of colors. Wear 'em with jeans or dress them down with your favorite comfy sweatpants. Either way, your feet will be nice and toasty and you'll look cute!
