Letter: Student defends argument concerning Islamic fundamentalism

10/26/07 - To the Cigar,
I would first like to thank Stephanie Long for editorializing the message she sent me through Facebook on the 19th of this month. Since she blocked my account immediately after firing off that gem, I was unable to respond properly. Now that her tirade, which is almost exactly the same as the Facebook version, belongs to the world, I feel no compunction about revealing just who shot whom in the foot.
The whole point of her letter seems to revolve around the way I said all Muslims are evil, and out to kill us all, especially whites and Jews. Of course, I never said that. What I said was, "Islamo-fascists are friends to no one on this Earth," and that line is taken directly not only from her scathing rebuttal, but also from the first line of the seventh paragraph of my Oct. 18 letter to the editor.
In paragraph three, I was very careful indeed to point out the differences between Islam and Islamo-Fascism. Because of this, I would have thought that anyone who wished to take me to task for my article would have chosen the glaring error I made - also in paragraph three - as to how old Islam really is: AD 611 was 14 centuries ago, not four.
Missing from the Cigar version of Stephanie's rant is the true depth of the personal attacks she launched. Apparently, I have no friends, and especially no Muslim friends, and my Facebook profile picture signifies this. Exactly how that conclusion was reached is beyond me, and I also fail to see how my friends are any of her business.
Stephanie then goes on to make some very strange and general comments regarding past oppressive organizations: the Nazis and the Ku Klux Klan. She uses her entirely erroneous and inexplicable interpretation to try and question why I do not hold a grudge against all Germans for the slaughter that the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei perpetrated against 6 million Jews, Poles, etc., and why I do not hate all whites because of the crimes of the KKK.
