Letter: Islamo-Facism comments offend reader

10/24/07 - To the Cigar,
"The Islamo-Fascists are friends to no one on this Earth," according to Joe LiVolsi.
I am a white, Christian, American and proud of it. However, the reason I must specify this to LiVolsi is because it seems that he would care. I would first like to inform him that his aforementioned quote in a previous issue of the Cigar is utterly false and as far as I am concerned, embarrassing.
I have many friends who are of Islamic decent and I'm guessing he does not. Mr. LiVolsi, who do you think you are to make such an accusation? Sept. 11? A little history for you: those were terrorists part of an awful regime.
I saw that you are studying German. Well then you must know that they brutally killed Jews during World War II, right? Do you hold a grudge to all Germans? Have you ever heard of the Ku Klux Klan? White people must suck, right? Nobody is friends with them.
If the world listened to your way of thinking, it would be a sad place. It's a good thing they do not and never will.
If you were not informed, this is a liberal campus and all that will happen this week is that you and your group will be made fun of and look like complete idiots. But you know what the best thing out of all of this is? If you presented your information to an Islamic country such as Pakistan, they would look at you and simply walk away. Like the rest of America, they are nice people and would feel sympathetic toward you.
Next time you take the time to publish your opinion, please consider your audience and learn to respect others.
I simply felt inclined to respond because one of my closest friends is Muslim and was greatly offended. Although I am a Democrat, I believe that the Republican Party would not support your accusations of the Islamic religion.
