10/18/07 - To the Cigar,

When looking at the war in Iraq and the left's lack of response to the ideology which fuels it, Islamo-fascism, I am reminded of Edmund Burke's statement, "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

Although the left and right often differ in their views on good and evil, the persecution of gays, women, Jews and non-religious people is something that the left should be most outspoken against based on their domestic agenda. But they remain silent.

One man, President George W. Bush, has not. At the State of the Union address in 2002 President Bush called these people what they are: "an axis of evil." Bush recognizes that if we don't have the political will to define the enemy, then we will be unable to confront them.

[U.S. Senate Majority Leader] Harry Reid, who has already declared that we lost this war, does not. Women's groups, GLBT groups and any religious freedom groups should put aside their hatred for President Bush and put in front their love for America and the West, and join the right who seek freedom for moderate Muslims.

It is freedom for women to not have to walk 10 feet behind their husbands and get acid thrown in their faces if they got any closer, like what happened under Saddam's regime-freedom for children to go to school, and to trade and prosper in a secure society.

What would have happened had we not gone into Germany and stopped Hitler? The great thing is that Bush's surge is working, as some of the most critical liberal senators, like Dick Durbin, have recently admitted. When there is security in the streets then the people can go to school and learn, and can trade goods and prosper without the fear of being blown up.

Islamo-fascism is this generation's greatest threat. United we stand and divided we fall. Partisan politics by the left is threatening our national security and Islamo-fascists are banking on the continuation of it.

In lieu of recent Democratic war policies, it seems that we are writing our enemies a blank check.
