Community mourns death of sophomore

11/24/09 - The University of Rhode Island students and faculty are mourning the loss of sophomore Erica Rose, who died in a car accident on Route 10 in Cranston, R.I., Friday night. Rose, 19, a sophomore education major from Coventry, R.I., was a passenger in the car when it swerved into the median and hit the guardrail.

URI applicants increase over recent years

11/24/09 - The rate of applicants has progressively increased in the past few years at the University of Rhode Island. According to the URI Web site, as of 2008 the Colleges of Arts & Sciences, Environment and Life Sciences, Human Sciences and Services were URI's most largely populated colleges.

Tree removal sparks debate among faculty, students

11/24/09 - Once in abundance on the University of Rhode Island's Kingston campus, trees have become more sparse. The cutting down of trees around campus has been a common occurrence for about five years but has been becoming more frequent. According to URI Associate Professor of Plant Pathology ,Larry Englander, without the trees many buildings now appear as bare slabs of concrete.
