04/21/09 - To the Cigar, I'd just like to respond to the two letters criticizing the column regarding the Tea Party Protests and say that of course it was biased! There is a reason we call it an opinion column - it is the author's opinion. That would be the same as a bias.
04/21/09 - To the URI community, Thank you for a wonderful year. This year Sa Sa Week was a huge success and we want to sincerely express appreciation to all who made it a possibility. Every year for the past four decades Uhuru Sa Sa has been committed to fostering positive campus enrichment.
04/21/09 - To the Cigar, This is just a short note to express my sincerest thanks to everyone that assisted me in generating money for the American Cancer Society in conjunction with Relay for Life. I not only thank all of the generous people that contributed, but also the URI Student Senate, for inspiring me to help out with this cause.
04/21/09 - To the Cigar, I am writing to thank everyone for their ongoing support and for participating in the Blues 'n' Cues program held monthly in the Memorial Union. Thank you resident assistants, Memorial Union building managers, Information Desk staff, Memorial Union Scheduling Office, Office of Student Life, Ronzio's staff, URI Police and to all the students that come out to make this event a success.
04/21/09 - To the Cigar, Thank you for printing last week's editorial on Sexual Assault Awareness Month and for bringing attention to sexual assault awareness. Far too many people do not realize how prevalent sexual assault is, far too many people think it can't happen to them and far too many survivors face an enormous amount of stigma.
04/21/09 - The Cigar published an editorial about Sexual Assault Awareness Month last week. While the advice given in the editorial might be helpful, it will not necessarily stop a rapist. Someone walking home alone would not be blamed for getting mugged, yet rape victims are sometimes told that it was their behavior that caused their attack.
04/21/09 - Whether it's through reading about it in a textbook, flipping through Anne Frank's diary or seeing "Schindler's List", the Holocaust is a subject that is familiar to many. But for me, Holocaust Remembrance Day, which is today, has taken on a whole new meaning, all thanks to one man and an old clothes hanger.
