04/17/09 - If one were to look at the newest supplemental state budget, it would look like the university is getting $11 million more in state aid than the original budget for the 2009 fiscal year. This would conflict with the current assumption that the state is giving less and less money to URI each year.
04/17/09 - The University of Rhode Island might be getting a "Crime Scene Investigation"-spin, as the House Finance Committee works to combine the state crime lab facilities on the Kingston campus. Currently, Rhode Island forensic investigations are split between the Rhode Island State Crime Laboratory on campus, and the state Department of Health, each of which handles different types of work.
04/17/09 - The University of Rhode Island Police Department recently joined the ranks of the New York Times, CNN and even MC Hammer by creating its own Twitter page. While Hammer uses his page on the social networking site to update followers about Hawaiian vacations, URI police is using its page to get the word out about crime on campus.
04/17/09 - Last night students and professors crammed into the University of Rhode Island's Swan Hall Auditorium to hear guest speaker, Dr. Jody Heymann, Ph.D. Heymann received her Medical Degree from Harvard Medical School and has advised both the U.S. Senate the World Health Organization As the founding director of the Institute for Health and Social Policy at McGill University, she gave a presentation titled 'Meeting the Needs of Working Families: Getting to the Core of Global Gender Inequalities.
