04/15/09 - The University of Rhode Island held the 2009 A. Robert Rainville Leadership Awards last night in the Memorial Union Ballroom, honoring three student leaders and organizations. The nominees and recipients received remarks of praise from their peers and faculty in three categories: student leadership, outstanding student employee and team excellence.
04/15/09 - "Check your attitude," Lt. Charles P. Wilson, chair of the National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers, said during his lecture last night. He had the audience repeat those words after him, noting attitude is everything when dealing with the police after getting pulled over.
04/15/09 - The Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce awarded the University of Rhode Island and Johnson and Wales University a joint $20,000-grant for a sustainable seafood program that will focus on student and faculty research. The sustainable seafood program is still in its planning stages, but members from URI and JWU are hoping the program will eventually benefit students academically and in their future endeavors.
