Horrors of Mexico alter student perception of South-of-the-Border

03/04/09 - Thousands of college students flock to Mexico for Spring Break every year, while drug wars and dangerous situations run rampant in the country. It is becoming increasingly important for students to be aware of these issues. The U.S. Department of State has been posting travel advisory warnings on its Web site since the summer about growing problems with the drug war and safety issues.

Guantanamo Bay debate marks 50th anniversary of state ACLU

03/04/09 - Two advocates from the American Civil Liberties Union debated about the rights of prisoners in Guantanamo Bay last night in the University of Rhode Island Memorial Union. The debate, held in Atrium 1, marked the 50th anniversary of the RI-Affiliate of the association and was the third, and last, debate of its kind.

URI names Trainer head football coach

03/04/09 - The University of Rhode Island football team welcomed back former defensive coordinator Joe Trainer at a Friday morning press conference held in the Alumni Room at the Ryan Center. Trainer was named the Rams' 19th all-time head coach. "I cannot tell you how honored and humbled I am to be the head football coach at the University of Rhode Island," Trainer said at the conference.
