09/17/08 - A little more than a month ago, Vice President of Administration Robert Weygand said that University of Rhode Island students should not expect a smaller number of classes being offered at URI. But according to URI Provost Donald DeHayes in an interview yesterday, URI could see a reduced number of sections for each class, which could be just as disastrous.
09/17/08 - Previously, and not too long ago, I said in a Facebook note that the economy wasn't facing tough times, it was only tougher than it used to be. And this is 100 percent true. Times today are tougher than they used to be, but I have since changed my mind on the economic situation, and I will candidly provide my verdict: the financial community is facing a catastrophe.
09/17/08 - To the Cigar, In the mid 1990s, President Robert L. Carothers made the ill-fated decision to transform the University of Rhode Island into a dry campus. Much like Prohibition in the 1920s, the theory seemed sound. Ban drinking on campus and student drinking will reduce.
