In wake of Virginia Tech, URI unveils new emergency notification system

11/14/07 - University of Rhode Island officials unveiled yesterday a comprehensive emergency notification system yesterday, which they hope will be fully operational by the end of this month. The system is capable of warning the entire URI community about everything from class cancellations to serious emergencies similar to the Virginia Tech shooting.

"I personally feel that if anyone insists that his or her point of view is the only point of view that should exist, this will lead to instances of violence," Xu said through an interpreter.
