03/28/07 - With state and University of Rhode Island officials in attendance, a national biotechnical company announced the first private donation for the new $60 million Center for Biotechnology and Life Sciences at yesterday's groundbreaking ceremony. Amgen, a Rhode Island biotechnological drug manufacturing company, helped kick off the building's fundraising efforts with a $1 million donation.
03/28/07 - Just before Spring Break, investigators released information linking the car of the wife of University of Rhode Island accounting professor Joseph Matoney, Jr. to the fire that occurred at their 19 French Road home last month. According to a property inventory submitted by investigators, fire debris, wood flooring, gas cans, two rings and liquid from the gas cans were submitted to the Rhode Island State Crime Lab at URI.

Last night was put together with the idea of "meeting both students and residents' needs," said Ben Matone, Student Senate External Affairs Committee chairman.
03/28/07 - The University of Rhode Island Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies will offer a Summer Institute in hopes of cultivating leaders who will one day put their knowledge to use in society. Facilitated by Bernard LaFayette Jr., the director of the center, the program is geared for students who are "interested in helping to change the world," he said.
