11/28/06 - Good old Compton: where guns reign supreme, gang banging is considered a hobby and crack is viable commodity. The Game shepherds us through this gun-slinging, low-riding, blood-spattered paradise on his new album, Doctor's Advocate. It's an enlightening journey full of complex emotional drama, epic battles, the effects of gang warfare and, wait for it: hoes! Innovative, this album is not.
11/28/06 - To the Cigar, First, let me introduce myself. I am Derek Dubois, the singer/songwriter of The K-Rex Struts. I want to unabashedly thank the Cigar for listening to our debut album, Drugstore Politics, and for taking the time to compose such a profound review.
11/28/06 - Wylde Bunch live up to their name by infusing elements of soul, rock and world music, merging it into a magnificent hip-hop sound. Signed to Surfdog Records with fellow bands Slightly Stoopid and Richard Cheese, Wylde Bunch released their self-titled EP last week.
11/28/06 - Bring in this upcoming winter season with a laugh, a cry and especially a little dance. Happy Feet is an animated comedy for viewers of all ages, and it recently tapped its way into theaters with a huge bang. Featuring the voices of Robin Williams, Nicole Kidman, Brittany Murphy, Elijah Wood and Hugh Jackman, Happy Feet is the story of an emperor penguin that didn't fit in with the rest of his peers.
11/28/06 - The music of Billy Joel will rock the Providence Performing Arts Center, as the Broadway production of Movin' Out starts tonight. Dancing to the music of Joel tells the story of five friends as they progress through two decades. The play was nominated for 10 Tony awards in 2003, winning for Twyla Tharp's choreography and the orchestration work of Joel and Stuart Malina.
11/28/06 - Marcus Cole, the bass player for the up-and-coming band Hellogoodbye, took time out of his busy schedule to talk about the band's origins and style with the Cigar. Hellogoodbye formed in Huntington Beach, Calif. in 2001. Hellogoodbye consists of Cole, lead singer and guitarist Forrest Kline, keyboardist Jesse Kurvink and drummer Chris Profeta.
11/28/06 - "Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta…" These are the words I hear chanted over and over again, as fast as possible, as part of my roommate's efforts to learn the Greek alphabet for her sorority. Greek organizations - fraternities and sororities - are a major part of campus life at any university.
