9/19/06 - Many times unexposed local rock bands struggle creating a decent first album. They are the ones who bang away at basement shows or tiny coffee houses, while it's clear that the small audience of grungy teens are just there for the free music. Even though some of these bands may have one or two slightly catchy songs, the rest sound pretty lame and immature.
9/19/06 - After a movie was described as the "worst movie of the year" by The New York Post and "a lousy behavioral example for today's youth" by reel.com, the mere concept of a sequel to such a film would seem ludicrous. Unless, of course, that film is Jackass: The Movie.
9/19/06 - Epsilon Zeta, a new novel by Jock Young, attempts to shed light on the hidden world of fraternity initiations and internal politics, but the end result feels scattered. While Epsilon Zeta remains an interesting read at just under 300 pages, the ending comes far too abruptly and the majority of the fraternity brothers are either unbelievably stupid and manipulative, or too well-meaning and innocent.
