04/18/06 - A University of Rhode Island faculty member will be awarded the 2006 Woman of the Year award by the URI Association for Academic and Professional Women. Helen Mederer, the sociology and anthropology department chair at URI, is surprised that she won the award.
04/18/06 - The University of Rhode Island received more than $300,000 in 2005 from the Champlin Foundation, a Rhode Island-based philanthropic group. "We are very grateful to the Champlin Foundation for their support," Paul Witham, the university's associate vice president of development, said in a press release.
04/18/06 - Boston crime lab investigator Elizabeth Ziolkowski spoke Friday on the various techniques used in bloodstain pattern analysis, as part of the weekly Forensic Science Lecture Series. Although she said it would take a solid semester to understand bloodstain pattern analysis, Ziolkowski gave the audience a run-down of basic blood pattern analytical techniques.
