03/30/05 - The University of Rhode Island's 11th Annual Lecture on Multiculturalism featured Marquette University professor Dr. Howard Fuller. He discussed "The Impact of School Choice on Student Learning and Development" last night in Edwards Auditorium. Fuller expressed his support for parental choice, which offers parents the option to transfer children to better schools when their district schools perform poorly.
03/30/05 - The University of Rhode Island Honors Program, along with the URI Foundation, will be celebrating the designation of URI as a 2004 Truman Foundation Honor Institution next week. "It's a very impressive honor to bestow upon URI," Gerry Tyler, acting director of the Honors Program, said.
03/30/05 - Spring is here, and that means tax season is creeping up. For some students, this may be the first year filing state and federal income tax forms. "A lot of kids think because they are in college they don't need to fill out taxes," Mark Higgins, associate dean of the College of Business Administration, said.
03/30/05 - Phi Mu Delta, a fraternity kicked off campus in 1989, has been re-established at the University of Rhode Island. Alex Schramm, secretary of the fraternity, said he could not obtain specific information as to why the fraternity was removed, but said he knew it had committed several infractions.
