Committee censured, chairman cleared to continue appointment

02/15/05 - The University of Rhode Island Student Senate Executive Committee voted to censure the Rules and Ethics Committee and allow Senator Evan Duggan-Lever to maintain his seat. A complaint from Duggan-Lever forced the committee to debate whether the vice president has the power to remove a senator if he or she becomes ineligible to serve on the senate.

02/15/05 - The University of Rhode Island Student Senate vice presidential candidates Friday took the stage in front of an audience of about 20 to deliver their platforms. Neil Cavanaugh - Patrick Mills' running mate - and Michael James - Patrick Aguiar's running mate - delivered sharply different styles of presentation during their only debate before the election.

Forensic Toxicologist explains how she assists in autopsies

02/15/05 - Forensic scientist Nancy Haley said that death, drugs and tragedy are only some of the factors that provide a morbid thrill in her profession. "We all think of death as the ending," Haley said. "For forensics its just the beginning." Haley is the supervisor for the Forensic Toxicology Laboratory at the Rhode Island Department of Health.

URI Foundation accepting Excellence Award nominations

02/15/05 - The University of Rhode Island Foundation is currently accepting nominations from students and staff members who want to recommend someone who qualifies for the 2005 Excellence Awards. "The students play a significant role when they voice their support for a particular teacher or a scholarly event," Robert Coleman, executive director of the URI Foundation, said.
