9/10/09 - University of Rhode Island Police, along with South Kingstown Police, are searching for a man accused of groping seven female students at different areas around campus and at the Kingston Emporium.

Victims began reporting the incidents Sunday evening, and additional reports soon followed. The university issued a description of the suspect yesterday after reviewing footage from surveillance cameras in campus buildings. The footage was sent to state police for enhancement.

According to the description, the man is a white male in his late 20s to mid-30s who has been spotted wearing a light blue t-shirt, dark shorts, sneakers, sunglasses and a white necklace. Additional footage shows the suspect wearing a navy New England Patriots shirt. Police said the man is between 5'8 and 6 feet tall and has been seen riding a bicycle and jogging.

Maj. Stephen Baker said students who find themselves in a situation involving sexual assault should get a good description of their attacker and contact police immediately.

He said it is imperative police are notified as soon as possible.

Anyone with information concerning these incidents to contact URI police at 874-2121.
